Fortitude

Stepping from the usual hunt for a serial killer, this story will take you on a different type of adventure. In Chicago, to attend a Behavioral Science symposium at Northwestern University, on her way to her suite after dinner, FBI Special Agent Charley Faraday is abducted. She survives repeated drugging, and awakens in a cold, damp basement. Her location and kidnapper are unknown. Determined to escape, Charley will stop at nothing for freedom.

After her escape, Charley made two special friends who without complaint would endure the elements and terrain with her. Through driving rain, treacherous rocky mountains, exhaustion, and hunger, survival pushed them eastward. A brawl with a black bear, the lunging attacks of a bobcat, and the hissing strike of a timber rattlesnake, their teamwork liberated them from death.

Chico the Labrador Retriever and Henry the aging quarter horse, used their animal instincts allowing them to overcome the ragged, dangerous slope and rushing river. Adapting to communicating with Charley, they forged through their perilous journey.

On the road, searching for any clues or evidence of Charley’s location or destination, Special Agent Sean Murphy and the team, worked twenty-four hours a day to locate Charley. She left behind crumbs to mark her route. However, hours to days had passed since the clues were found, making it too late. Murphy, distraught and heartbroken maintained control determined to bring Charley home.
